Felting for Beginners

Over the course of six weeks, the basic technique of needle felting and wet felting will be covered, with a different item made each session. All wool and equipment will be provided both for class and home practise. Felting is an inexpensive but rather addictive hobby! Materials cost £20 payable at first class.

Introduction for fused glass, types of glass, how to cut and shape glass, accessory glass-frits, inclusions and paints. Kiln processes, slumping, full and contour fusing, basic health and safety and good practice. Extra glass may be purchased on request if desired. Materials cost of £70 payable at first class.

Introduction to Fused Glass

This one day taster course gives you a hands-on introduction to the wonderful world of fused glass. During this relaxed workshop you will learn how to cut and layer glass to make your own coaster, sun- catcher, small bowl and trinket dish in a variety of opal and transparent glass.

Over coffee and cake we will look at the basics of fused glass, kiln processes, accessory glass products and how to use them. We will learn about the effects of temperature on glass and how to use the kiln to achieve a variety of surfaces and shapes.

No previous experience required, all tuition, tools and safety equipment will be provided. Using a range of Bullseye Glass products.

A delicious cold buffet lunch of sandwiches, cake and fruit is included with tea and coffee available throughout the day. Please contact Rachel with any dietary requirements (e.g. gluten free, vegetarian, etc.).

After the workshop your pieces will be fired and available for collection from the studio by appointment. Work can be posted out- additional charges will apply.

Create a Wool Felting Painting with Ann Smith Art

We will be using wool fibres, silk fibres and a selection of other fibres to create a simple piece of wool felt art. I will show you how to do this using the wet felting technique, with a little bit of needle felting and hand sewing All materials and equipment will be provided for this workshop. Please bring some inspiration for your piece in the form of your own photos or a sketch of landscapes or seascapes. This workshop is aimed at the beginners and those with a little bit of experience. 

Please bring an old bath towel and plastic bag for this workshop.

Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day but please bring your own packed lunch with you.
